La La Land
Matty and I finally had a night off together this past weekend, so we got a babysitter for Mason and headed off to the movie theater!
As new parents, I think we sometimes forget how to just be a couple without Mason. It’s hard to even recall what life was like without him, which is usually okay except for when Matty and I have time together or time alone. I hope I am not the only one who feels this way!
Either way, we got to the theater with movie in mind: La La Land. We recently watched the Golden Globe awards, in which they won so many awards including best film. I was beyond excited to have the chance to see it before the Oscars (see this post for my awards seasons rituals).
I don’t want to spoil the movie, for those who still have not seen it. I suppose if you don’t enjoy musicals, you wouldn’t like this. But if I could implore you readers to appreciate this movie for the music, for the artistry of it, please go see it. It’ll be worth while.
But it got me thinking about romance…
I know life is not like the movies; meeting someone strange at a party, dancing with them in the streets, signing songs spontaneously, being completely in love 24/7. I know it’s not real. But wouldn’t it be nice, you know?
Again, learning to be ourselves again with Mason present has been a bit of a challenge for us.
But we’re learning. Maybe that could include a dance number or two!
