Mason’s second check up
It’s been a wonderful day! Although we didn’t have very much going on, we did endure Mason’s 4 month check up at his doctor’s.
He got more vaccines today (boosters from the last visit) and he was even better today than he was at the last check up. It’s very hard for me to watch him get vaccines: I know they’re necessary, but it’s upsetting to see my little man get poked with needles. Matty was with us for this visit, and I initially told him to pick Mason up after the shots were done (because I got to last time). But as soon as the nurse finished, I found myself scooping Mason up before Matty even had a chance. I’ll try to be better next time!
Mason is a big boy!
This kid is a big one! He weighs in at 16lbs and 1 ounce, normal for his age, and double his birth weight. He is in the 90th percentiles for height and head circumference, but hopefully with time it’ll all even out. We really aren’t sure where this height is coming from, if he does indeed grow to be taller than the both of us. We are 5’5″ and 5’8″, so I am hoping he lands somewhere in that range.
Here’s me and my son, right before they came in with the vaccines. He is a very happy baby, almost never cries. I was worried that he would know what the nurse was coming in to do, but I guess that apprehension doesn’t happen until babies are a little older.
More good news today!
I have heard back from two different jobs, and I have moved forward with the application process. Working every day at submitting job applications and following up on them.
Sometimes watching the news can be disheartening, but I use it as fuel for our journey. More than ever, I have reason to bring our dream to life. I can’t wait to share this journey with Matty, but also with Mason. When he grows up, I want him to appreciate the leap we took to get out and live our dreams. And though today was slow, getting these online jobs will put us one more huge step forward.
I feel incredibly lucky and blessed today.
